My trusty 642 was acting up and got a trip back to its birth place. got a call from CS, this week and they are replacing the revolver due to a broken stud in the frame. (I suspect a trigger return stud) Good service , as they only got the gun Jan 4. FWIW Good to know that this kind of service is available today.

Don't have an ETA but they already sent back my aftermarket grips from the old gun. With the blizzard here in WV I don't look for it this week, but I can hope.John

Big businesses do weird things. Why not just send the grips with the new pistol? As well, I guess it was cheaper and easier to toss the old one and grab a new one off the line than fix it. That's something I can't get used to, the disposable society we live in.

Well the revolver arrived in late Mar. I guess I had to wait because I requested a "no lock" replacement, and they are not made as often as the lock model. Anyway, it shoots well and I will be carrying it EDC.

I would've waited for the no-lock model as well. I was absolutely disgusted with S&W for adding this completely unnecessary feature. I am, however, very surprised that they will make a non-lock firearm.
